So this spring and summer your girl is going to be outside! No not with the masses unless it's running but I'm biking, fishing, gardening, cycling, touching grass, roller blading, anything physical and outside I'm getting into it! My home girl Krystal hit me the other day and told me she started back skating and I was so overjoyed because I have been wanting to get back for years but just wasn't intrinsically motivated enough to go out and do it (well when I did I needed help 2). She told me to come join her and I warned her I wasn't the rolling rabbit I used to be and she said come on so all bets were off and I was there! I grabbed my skates i ordered off of Amazon and was set. After getting in a few reps I realized I'm terrible but not as bad as I thought but this was the push I needed in the right direction to get back in my groove!
Are you outside this spring & Summer?
Getting back to roller skating after a long break can feel intimidating, but trust me, it’s totally worth it! When I first laced up my new skates from Amazon, I didn’t expect to be great right away, but each time I hit the pavement, I could feel my confidence growing. It reminded me that physical activities outside don’t have to be overly competitive—sometimes it’s just about having fun and reconnecting with nature. Beyond skating, I’ve found that incorporating diverse outdoor activities like biking, fishing, gardening, and rollerblading can really boost overall well-being. Moving my body, getting fresh air, and just touching grass helps reduce stress and improve mood. Even if you don’t feel motivated to start something new, teaming up with friends or a supportive community can make all the difference—as my friend Krystal encouraged me. If you’re hesitant about roller skating or any other outdoor activity, start slow. Practice near a wall or in a safe space to build balance and ease. Over time, you’ll improve your skills and find a groove that feels enjoyable. Plus, rolling outside allows you to soak up the sunshine and appreciate seasonal changes in a unique way. So this spring and summer, why not challenge yourself to get outside more often? Whether it’s skating, cycling, or simply exploring your neighborhood on foot, merging fitness and fun outdoors refreshes both body and mind. It’s about creating joyful moments, staying active, and embracing the great outdoors—one roll at a time!
