Slow and steady but my girl @DaGODdesswithin is still rocking with me and be patient on this journey. I didn't run into any walls this time, I didn't fall, and I got up on my own and wasn't wobbly. Going backwards though is a struggle but one step at a time and I know for sure I'll be hitting the moves in no time!
Starting a roller skating journey can be both exciting and challenging, especially when trying to master moves like skating backwards. From my experience, consistency and patience are key. In week two, I avoided falls and kept my balance steady, which is a big step forward compared to week one. One of the hardest parts for me has been going backwards — it requires building new muscle memory and learning how to shift weight differently. I discovered that breaking down the backward skating motion into smaller steps helps. Practicing standing still and balancing on one foot, then slowly pushing backwards while holding onto a stable surface gave me more confidence. Also, setting realistic goals, like improving a little each day without pushing too hard, keeps the journey enjoyable and safe. Having a supportive friend or partner, like my friend who has been encouraging me, makes a huge difference. Encouragement and shared progress keep motivation high. Using protective gear also helps reduce fear of falling, so you can focus on the technique. If you're starting roller skating, especially focusing on backward moves, remember: every skater faces struggles, but with persistence, you'll soon find yourself hitting the moves smoothly. Celebrate small victories and keep rolling forward, one step at a time.
