4 things that ruined my hormones

I recently got diagnosed with PCOS & I’ve been trying to get to my root cause!

there’s a few things I used to do all the time back in college that contributed to my hormone imbalances 🥺

chronic stress: stress was an issue for me in college & also now! I struggle with keeping my nervous system balanced & not going into fight or flight! When this happens stress hormones are released & if this happens too much or too often, these stress hormones are hard on our body & disrupt other hormones.

Coffee on an empty stomach: caffeine on an empty stomach is really hard on your body! It spikes your cortisol & hurts your gut health. Eating breakfast first before any caffeine is key!!☕️

Eating fast food + high refined sugar: fast food & refined sugar contribute to inflammation which disrupts your gut health & hormones. Try eating more whole foods and eating out less! Instead of refined sugar, eat more fruit 🍎

a lot of antibiotic use: I had bacterial vaginosis for 3 years straight end I took a lot of antibiotics to treat it. All the antibiotics left my gut health in rough shape because antibiotics kill your good gut bacteria a long with the infection. Gut health is connected to hormone health! I figure that’s where a lot of my imbalances stem from.

I’ve worked hard to undo these habits for better hormone health 🤍 can anyone else relate?🥺

... Read moreHormonal balance is crucial for overall well-being, and understanding the factors that disrupt it can empower you to make healthier choices. Chronic stress is a significant contributor to hormone imbalances; it triggers the release of cortisol, which can interfere with other hormones when levels are too high for too long. To combat this, incorporating stress-reducing techniques like mindfulness or yoga can be beneficial. Another common issue is the consumption of caffeine on an empty stomach, which not only spikes cortisol levels but also impacts gut health. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast can stabilize energy levels and hormone production. Additionally, the detrimental effects of fast food and excessive refined sugars cannot be ignored; these foods promote inflammation, which is linked to hormonal disorders. Opting for whole foods filled with nutrients can support better gut and hormonal health. Lastly, overuse of antibiotics can disrupt gut flora, which is closely connected to hormone regulation. If you've faced such health challenges, consider probiotics or fermented foods to help restore gut balance. By addressing these everyday habits, you can take steps toward achieving a healthier hormonal state.

There’s absolutely no reason why you should be taking antibiotics long term. You take them in full when they are prescribed to you and that’s all. If you’re being prescribed them very frequently it’s not a good sign
