... Read moreWorking as a medical assistant in a dermatology clinic is both dynamic and rewarding. From my personal experience, a typical day involves multitasking to ensure both patient care and clinic operations run smoothly. One crucial task is preparing liquid nitrogen, which requires careful handling due to its extremely low temperature and importance in treatments such as cryotherapy. Ensuring exam rooms are restocked and organized minimizes delays between patient appointments and enhances the overall clinic flow. Handling samples is another significant responsibility; labeling and bagging all biopsies accurately is key to maintaining specimen integrity and avoiding misdiagnosis. Keeping communication lines open by checking emails, Klaras, and patient notes throughout the day helps manage refill requests and follow-ups efficiently. I also find that calling patients with lab or pathology results needs a compassionate and clear approach to ease any concerns they might have. Maintaining cleanliness is vital—not only for infection control but also for patient comfort—so wiping down rooms at the end of the day ensures a safe environment. It's also important to take brief breaks, such as lunch time, which helps to recharge and appreciate the support from reps and colleagues alike. Staying organized amid samples galore and constant tasks requires a system—such as checklist apps or physical planners—that can reduce stress and keep priorities in check. Overall, this role demands attention to detail, empathy, and adaptability, making it a fulfilling career path for those interested in dermatology and patient care.

Derm PA Approved Aquaphor Uses ✨
Aquaphor Healing Ointment isn’t just for post-biopsy or surgery care 👀 In derm, we use it all the time because it helps protect the skin barrier and creates the ideal environment for wound healing. Keeping skin moist (not dried out) can actually help wounds heal better and feel less irritated.
