🎧 Why is the "Spotify Model" copy often broken in Thai organizations?

When "model" is less important than "leader-power-culture," and the reality is that Spotify itself no longer uses the same model.

* Many Thai organizations are trying to accelerate Digital Transformation by adopting a famous model like "Squad - Tribe - Chapter - Guild from Spotify." Both team names, organizational structures and technical terms are painted on the slide as beautifully as a copy, "but the results are the opposite of the intention."

* For example, the team still has to wait for orders from above, decisions are slow, innovations are unrealized, and finally just "old liquor in a new bottle" that makes employees tired and executives sigh.

The question many Thai organization leaders want to know is?

* "Why are we copying the Spotify Model on almost everything, but the results aren't the same?"

* The answer is that the copy is just a "shell," and the "heart" (Substance) that makes the model a real result has never been used.

Spotify never tells anyone to peel the model itself (because it's his corporate culture), and even more interestingly, Spotify itself is no longer using the model in its original form; they make clear that the model is just a "case study at a certain point in time" (according to Henrik Kniberg once interviewed), not a formula for success.

The team must have the power to choose what to do, to experiment, to make their own decisions, and not to enter every board.

But in Thai organizations...

* Product team must wait for approval every two weeks.

* The chief must "first ask for an adult's opinion."

* The idea of the new ending child was not yet offered, it was closed with the sentence "The original thing is fine," and so on.

"The model will suddenly crash if there is no decentralization."

2) A leader must be a "real Product Leader," not a coordinator.

Spotify is highly focused on its Product Manager (PM) and Product Owner (PO) roles as "Strategic Leader," not "Backlog Manager" or "Secretary Dev," as many Thai organizations misunderstand.

The product leader must have a 3D background simultaneously.

* Business (Impact visible)

* Technology (understand possibilities)

* User Experience (Understand the customer in real depth)

But in many organizations, PMs are not invested, are not trained, and are not accepted to make real decisions. As a result, the whole team works "on-demand" rather than "creative."

3) Data Culture must win HiPPO Culture

HiPPO = Highest Paid Person's Opinion

* Many organizations work more like "executive think..." than "data proof...."

* On Spotify, Experimentation is a daily culture. Every idea must be proven by data, not position.

If the organization still uses the rank order rather than the data, the import model is broken.

But in Thai organizations, the PM is often reduced to just a role.

When the captain was reduced to "messenger," the team lacked direction, and the model that hoped to create mobility confused everyone.
