🤖 "When AI chases job titles."

This is not a technology article, but an editorial on "Power, Cost and Truth Inevitable by Thai Organizations."

Over the past 12-24 months, the term AI Transformation has become a fixture of meeting rooms in Thai organizations, from state-owned enterprises to family companies to publicly listed businesses.

But in the midst of these hype, foreign use case examples, and effusive new words, the most important question was quietly bypassed.

"If AI really works for people... how long will the power structure, KPI system, and job positions that Thai organizations hold?"

This is not an HR-oriented question.

It's not an IT question.

But it is a direct Power Structure and Capital Allocation question.

AI is not chasing workers, it is chasing "roles that are created to underpin legacy systems."

If viewed unromantically, AI is not meant to replace anyone, but it acts like an X-ray that penetrates the organizational structure and reveals that

* Which positions actually create added value?

* What positions exist to subdue power?

* And what positions exist because "no one dares to question"

In the Thai context, we have long been familiar with this equation:

* Senior = right to decide

* position = accuracy

* KPI = control tool rather than value reflection

"This structure exists because data is concentrated, analysis goes through hierarchy, and questioning is politically costly."

But AI destroys all assumptions at once. Today, AI can

* Analyze insights faster than multi-layer middle management

* Synthesize strategic alternatives without waiting for consensus.

* Questioning KPIs that "looked good in the report but never produced actual results."

The question is not whether an organization uses AI or not.

When information does not rely on power, who is still needed because of "value" and who is because of "position"?

AI is destroying the KPI culture of traditional Thai organizations.

Many Thai organizations believe that KPI is the heart of efficiency, but when AI comes in, what is exposed has at least three big issues.

1️⃣ many KPIs. Measure "activity" does not measure "results."

In the past, we often measured

* Number of reports

* Number of projects

* Number of meetings

* Number of working hours

"All this, AI can do faster, cheaper and not tired."

When these activities are automated, job titles that tie value to quantitative KPIs are immediately questioned.

2️⃣ KPI pushed for talent to "play the game" instead of creating Impact.

Traditional KPIs make people learn what is "safe" rather than what is "right."

But AI doesn't play KPI games, it looks straight at Outcome.

* Did the revenue actually increase?

* Are costs really reduced?

* Is the risk really reduced? "

When an organization starts using AI to analyze insights, the difference between the person who makes the numbers beautiful and the person who produces the actual results becomes painfully clear.

3️⃣ KPI Culture has always made Thai organizations misestimate "people potential."

In the past, we often praised

* Diligence

* Patience

* Listening

But AI suggests that what is really worth in economics

* Decision quality

* System linkage ability

* Coping with uncertainty and ambiguity

The real Survival Skill in the AI era?

This isn't about sending employees to train Prompt Engineering, it's about Re-skill the way leaders think.

1️⃣ Decision Quality must come before the Decision Authority.

In a world where AI analyzes data equally, decision-making power comes not from position, but from the quality of judgment.

The surviving leaders are the ones

* Deep questioning

* See system rather than subsections

* Dare to make decisions in the gray area, responsible for the results.

2️⃣ Human Judgement is the last asset yet to hit value.

AI is good at logic, but also allergic to humans for

* Thai social and cultural context

* Reading power games

* Managing people's fear, dignity and insecurity.

A good leader is not someone who allows AI to judge everything, but someone who knows where to use AI and where to use humanity.

3️⃣ cash and trust is the organization's new buffer.

In an age when job structures change quickly, such as

* Cash flow is more important than profit on paper.

* Trust trumps pretty written HR policy

A surviving organization is an organization that

* Speak the truth to people

* Prepare a choice, not just an order

* Admit that some roles have to disappear for the organization to survive.

Brief to Thai organizations

"AI does not replace humans."

But it is forcing organizations to choose who is "really needed" and who is "ever needed."

Organizations that use AI to maintain the same power structure will collapse a little slowly.

An organization that uses AI to expose the truth hurts first, but survives first.

Because in the end...

AI does not kill people jobs, but it does kill the "pretext" that organizations use to raise jobs that do not create value.
