NYC Travel Tips for First Timers 🫶

New York City is a bucket list destination. However, it is not the cheapest place to travel to. In fact, it’s one of the most expensive cities to visit in the world. But growing up having New York City as my backyard, here’s what you need to know if this is your first time visiting:

- Tap to Pay on the subway: this has been my favorite change that’s recently happened. No more having to get a physical MetroCard (although, iconic), and you can tap to pay with your credit card or Apple Watch.

- Walking can sometimes be faster than taking a car: whether you like it or not, you’re going to be walking more than you’re probably anticipating. Not only is it the best way to get around the city, but it also can be faster than taking a taxi. Walking is also the best way to get to know the city — just wear comfortable shoes!

- 3 airports to choose from: there are luckily 3 airports to fly into: LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy (JFK), and Newark (EWR). All 3 have very easy public transportation systems that will get you into the city

- Make reservations in advance: for the amount of people there are in the city, there are definitely not enough seats to fit everyone for dinner. Make your reservations in advance because a lottt of places will not have space for you if you were to walk in, especially on the weekends.
