My last four movies on Letterboxd

2024/8/7 Edited to

... Read moreLogging my latest movie watches on Letterboxd is one of my favorite things to do! It’s like keeping a personal diary of my cinematic adventures, and it's fantastic for tracking my recent activity and even seeing how my four favorites evolve over time. This past week has been a wild ride through some interesting films, and I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what I thought about them. First up, Tarot (2024). Honestly, my review for it was pretty spot on: "Final Destination if it had worse acting." I went in hoping for some fun, spooky thrills, but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The concept itself had potential, but the execution felt a bit clunky. It makes you wonder how some horror movies manage to really scare you, while others just... don't. Sometimes, even with all the jump scares, a movie just falls flat. How do you feel about horror films that rely heavily on jump scares versus psychological tension? Then I revisited a true classic, Bride of Chucky (1998). What a blast! Rewatching this gem always reminds me why it's a 5-star rewatch for me. The comment I left about Tiff (Tiffany Valentine, for those who know!) really sums up the fun. It's a perfect blend of horror and dark comedy, and it really embraced the campiness of the franchise. It’s fascinating how some horror movie ranking lists might put this high for its entertainment value, even if it's not strictly 'scary.' It’s a great example of a film that knows exactly what it is and leans into it. Next, I braced myself for The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017). Wow. This one definitely leaves an impression. My immediate thought after watching was, "It be like that sometimes," which is a pretty understated way to describe such an intense, unsettling experience. Yorgos Lanthimos always delivers something unique, and this psychological thriller is no exception. It's not an easy watch, but it makes you think and stays with you long after the credits roll. If you're into films that challenge you and aren't afraid to be deeply uncomfortable, this is one to add to your watchlist. It's often a topic of intense movie discussion for good reason! Finally, I checked out Trap (2024). My quick review was just "Oh America," which probably tells you a little about the twisty, M. Night Shyamalan-esque vibe of the film. It was certainly a departure from what I expected, and while I rated it 3.5 stars, it kept me guessing. It's always intriguing to see how new thrillers try to innovate and capture that suspenseful magic. Sharing these reviews on my Letterboxd profile is more than just keeping track for myself; it's also a fantastic way to engage in movie discussion with other film enthusiasts. I love seeing what others are watching and what their four favorites are. Sometimes, you see a film on someone else's recent activity list, and it inspires your next watch. It’s also interesting to see contrasting opinions – one person's "worst Letterboxd top 4" might contain a film I absolutely loved! That's the beauty of film; it's so subjective. Platforms like Letterboxd (and even Reddit for deeper dives) create such vibrant communities for exploring different perspectives. Whether you're tracking your latest stream or digging out an old DVD, logging your watches on Letterboxd makes the movie-watching experience even richer.

i haven’t bee watching many movies unfortunately as of late:( but these are the last four that I’ve seen. I love it all of them, except for blue sunshine, which I only didn’t really like because of how anti-drug it was it was a very weird film which I liked though I’m hopefully going to be watching
