Not responding IS responding.
It took me months to learn that.
Months to stop chasing the version of him I loved.
Months to stop craving his attention, his opinions, and his validation.
Keeping my peace didn’t happen all at once.
For me, it looked like finally blocking him after the random texts.
It looked like stopping the habit of checking his social media for updates.
It looked like letting go of the hope that one more conversation would give me the closure I wanted.
And slowly…
It looked like coming back to myself.
The books I liked.
The music I missed.
The routines I abandoned.
The life I put on hold trying to keep someone else happy.
My peace became more important than being understood.
More important than being chosen.
More important than being right.
Let them say what they want.
Let them think what they want.
They will anyway.
The only peace you’re responsible for protecting is your own.
