Easy No-Preheat Dutch Oven Sourdough (2 Loaves)🫶

Want to make sourdough without preheating your Dutch oven? Try this easy method!

⚡ What You Need:

🥖 1000g (6 ⅔ cups) all-purpose flour

💧 700g (3 cups) warm water (80°F)

🌱 200g (1 cup) active sourdough starter (bubbly & ready)

🧂 20g (4 tsp) salt

Step-by-Step:

1️⃣ Mix & Autolyse – Stir together flour & water until combined. Let it rest for 30–60 mins.

2️⃣ Add Starter & Salt – Mix in starter, then add salt. Knead until incorporated.

3️⃣ Bulk Ferment (4–6 hrs) – Let dough rise at room temp. Every 30–45 mins, do a stretch & fold (4 times total).

4️⃣ Divide & Shape – Split dough in half & shape into 2 round boules.

5️⃣ Final Proof (Cold or Room Temp)

🌙 Overnight: Refrigerate 12–24 hrs for best flavor.

☀️ Same Day: Proof at room temp for 1–2 hrs.

6️⃣ Bake (No Preheat Dutch Oven!)

• Place dough into a cold, floured Dutch oven.

• Score the top.

• Cover & place into a cold oven.

• Set oven to 450°F & turn it on.

• Bake 45 mins covered, then 10 mins uncovered.

7️⃣ Cool & Enjoy! – Let it cool at least 1 hour before slicing!
