Moon Moon Food - Michelin Bib Gourmand but.. mehh~
Here’s what we tried:
🥣 1. Chicken Soup with Clam ($23.80)
This was the first item listed on the menu — one of five chicken soups marked Michelin Bib Gourmand recommended.
✔️ Clams were fresh, and the soup carried a nice cabbage sweetness.
➖ Chicken was tender but flavourless, needing soy sauce to make it enjoyable.
🧠 The soup felt like a good bowl of homecooked soup — warm, familiar, but not extraordinary.
⭐ Rating: 7/10 — Decent, but don’t expect Michelin-level magic.
🍚 2. Moon Moon Signature Fried Rice ($13.80)
Let’s just say... they might want to remove the word "signature."
😕 Tasted very ordinary, with basic diced sausage and egg, and not in generous amounts.
❌ With so many strong fried rice options in Singapore, this one falls flat in taste, portion, and presentation.
🙅 We genuinely don’t recommend this — skip and go for their noodles instead.
⭐ Rating: 5/10 — Edible, but extremely disappointing for a “signature.”
🍜 3. Spicy Sesame Noodles ($13.80)
Surprisingly better value than the fried rice, even though it’s just noodles with sauce.
📸 Presentation nailed it — just like the menu photo, almost like a gourmet cold pasta.
👍 Noodles were very Q (springy), and the spicy sesame sauce gave a satisfying mala numbness.
➕ While we’d love to see some toppings or protein added, this is a decent pick for something unique.
⭐ Rating: 7/10 — A minimalist but flavourful dish that sets Moon Moon apart from other Chinese restaurants.
🍽️ Ambience & Service:
Service was quick and efficient — Taiwanese-style hospitality shines through.
Ambience is reminiscent of Din Tai Fung, but with a brighter, more modern touch.
🧾 Final Verdict
Moon Moon Food brings its Bib Gourmand chicken soups to Singapore with a clean and casual dining space. However, not every item lives up to the hype or price.
✅ Try the soups or spicy noodles if you're curious.
❌ Skip the fried rice
We don’t see ourselves coming back — it’s a one-time visit rather than a place to crave.

💬 Have you been to Moon Moon Food yet? Would you give it another try?
If you're considering a visit to Moon Moon Food at JEM, it might help to know that aside from their signature chicken soup and spicy sesame noodles, their menu offers other Taiwanese-style comfort foods that emphasize nourishing, healthy ingredients. Although their fried rice didn't impress me, I heard some diners find it nostalgic. The ambience is bright and modern, with a casual and laid-back atmosphere that suits quick meals or casual dining. Service feels warm and efficient, coming from a hospitality style that caters to families. Also, Moon Moon Food often provides complimentary prawn crackers as a starter, which adds a nice touch to the meal without extra cost. For those who enjoy chicken soups from Taiwan that blend freshness with wholesome flavors, this place offers a good experience, but don’t expect extravagant Michelin-level dishes. If you're looking to make a reservation, visiting during off-peak hours might guarantee a more relaxed dining experience. Overall, I'd recommend trying the chicken soup with clam or the spicy sesame noodles to get a true sense of what Moon Moon Food offers, while skipping the fried rice. It’s a decent spot for a one-time visit if you’re curious about Taiwanese dining options in Singapore.
