We are making sourdough this year!

Every year I try to replace some things with healthier alternatives. This year, one of those things was bread. I wanted to go on the journey that is Sourdough. We are 13 days into the year and so far I’ve made a strong sourdough starter and the first loaf of bread. I still have some tweaking to do until I find the perfect recipe, but I’m proud of how it’s going so far. #proudofmyself #resolutioncheckin #resolutions #sourdough

... Read moreSourdough baking has been trending as a healthier alternative to traditional bread. It's not just about the taste; sourdough is known for its unique flavors and health benefits. Many home bakers have made the switch, appreciating the process of nurturing a sourdough starter. With a good starter, you can create a variety of bread types—like boules and baguettes—that boast a delightful crust and airy crumb. When starting with sourdough, remember patience is key. The fermentation process can take time but results in a loaf rich in flavor and probiotics. Many bakers recommend using organic flour, which can contribute to a more robust starter. Don't shy away from experimenting with hydration levels and ingredients like whole grains or seeds to customize your loaf. This year could be the perfect time to join a community of sourdough enthusiasts, sharing tips, recipes, and experiences on platforms like Lemon8. Embrace the journey of sourdough and turn your kitchen into a haven of deliciousness!
