Pororo Cream Rice Cakes 🫶✨❤️

Preparing the Pororo Cream rice cakes on the stovetop is a great way to get a much softer, more consistent texture than the microwave.

Stovetop Preparation:

1. Rinse: Remove the rice cakes from the packet and rinse them under cold water. This removes excess starch and helps prevent them from sticking together.

2. Combine: In a small pot or frying pan, add the rice cakes, the cream powder, and about 100ml to 120ml of water (roughly half a cup).

• Note: Since water evaporates faster on the stove than in the microwave, using slightly more water than the "cup line" keeps the sauce from burning.

3. Boil: Turn the heat to medium-high and bring the liquid to a boil.

4. Simmer: Once boiling, turn the heat down to medium-low. Stir constantly to make sure the rice cakes don't stick to the bottom of the pan and the sauce stays smooth. Stir in corn (I used frozen corn 🌽)

5. Thicken: Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes. The sauce is ready when it has thickened into a creamy glaze and the rice cakes are soft and chewy.

Elevating the Dish

If you want to turn the snack into a more complete meal, the stovetop method makes it easy to toss in extra ingredients:

• Vegetables: Add some finely chopped broccoli, peas, or corn while simmering.

• Protein: Sliced hot dogs, bacon bits, or even some shrimp work perfectly with the mild cream flavor.
