Many surrogates discover that their children are impacted by this choice in various ways, fostering lessons in compassion and empathy. This unique journey may require adjustments in family life, as activities might need to be modified to accommodate medical schedules and lifestyle changes. Physical symptoms and challenges can differ significantly from one's previous pregnancies. Increased swelling, fatigue, and medical considerations are common, especially in IVF pregnancies. It’s essential to acknowledge that postpartum feelings can also take unexpected turns, often leading to mixed emotions about the end of the journey and the connection with the intended parents. Moreover, the birthing experience itself is often life-changing, solidifying the surrogate's impact on another family's life. Many return to surrogacy because of the unparalleled fulfillment it brings, knowing they have made a significant difference in someone else's world. This article aims to shed light on each aspect of this heartfelt commitment, paving the way for potential surrogates to be better informed and prepared.
