I Shower Every Three Days, My Friends Said Gross

I used to shower every single morning without fail. Then this year got crazy busy, and suddenly I was showering every three days…

The funniest moment? My friend said my hair looked “so sleek today.” Girl, that was not a hair product. That was me skipping wash day and pretending it was intentional.

Honestly, I’m trying to get back to my old routine, but some days I’m just too tired to care.

Do you shower every day or just when you feel gross?

And does your routine change depending on the season?

... Read moreYou know, since I shared my little shower confession, I've been thinking a lot about the 'how often do you shower?' question. It's funny how something so personal can spark such a debate! When I first started showering every three days, it wasn't a conscious choice to save time or water, though those have become definite perks. It was purely survival mode – juggling work, social life, and just general adulting left me utterly drained some evenings. The thought of stepping into my shower, with its clean white subway tiles and gleaming chrome showerhead, felt like another chore. But here's what I've learned: it's not as 'gross' as my friends (or even I initially!) thought. My hair, surprisingly, looks healthier. Less washing means my natural oils can do their job, leaving it less dry and frizzy. I've also noticed my skin feels less stripped, especially in drier weather. Of course, it's not always sunshine and rainbows. There are days when I definitely feel a little less fresh, especially after a workout. On those days, I've found a few tricks that help. Dry shampoo is my absolute best friend – a quick spritz at the roots can work wonders. I also do targeted washes – a quick rinse under the chrome control handle for just my body, or a hair wash over the sink if my scalp absolutely needs it but I don't have time for a full shower. The big question, 'How often do you shower?', really depends on so many personal factors. If you're super active, work in a physical job, or live in a humid climate, daily might be a necessity. But if you have dry skin, very fine hair, or a more sedentary lifestyle, stretching it out might actually benefit you. Some dermatologists even suggest that daily showering can strip your skin of beneficial oils and bacteria. It’s all about finding what works for your body and lifestyle. I’ve also started thinking about how different seasons impact my routine. In the summer, after sweating more, I definitely feel the need for a rinse more often. But in the colder months, when my skin tends to get drier, going longer between showers feels more comfortable and beneficial. It's truly a personal journey, and there's no one-size-fits-all answer to how often you should shower. The main thing is to listen to your body and adjust as needed. And honestly, if skipping a day or two (or three!) means you get a little more rest or feel less overwhelmed, then that's a win in my book. What do you think? Have you experimented with your shower frequency?

To be honest... I shower when I feel gross. I have severe depression so some days after school I literally eat dinner scroll on my phone for a while then go to bed. Please don't judge me.

As a woman, there's NO WAY I'm bathing every 3 days. Are you peeing every 3 days, having bowel movements every 3 days, are you eating or drinking every 3 days? Also, if you're married or living with someone, sleeping with someone every night yet NOT bathing DAILY is beyond FILTHY. HE must be funky too cause WTH. Do you change your bed linen once a year too? People that don't bathe daily become NOSEBLIND to their funk. I hate when a funky, musty individual comes past me, moving all about in public. Old age is no excuse not to be clean and fresh daily. I'm 57 and I couldn't imagine.
