“Train up a child in the way he should go…”

But hear this clearly—

this is wisdom, not a contract.

Some have carried silent guilt…

thinking, “If they strayed, I must have failed.”

But Proverbs were never written as guarantees—

they were written as guidance.

You can pour truth into a child…

and they still choose their own path.

You can model obedience…

and they still wrestle with their own will.

Because training shapes—

but it does not override choice.

Alahim Himself gives instruction…

yet people still walk away.

So why have we placed a heavier burden on parents

than even He does on Himself?

Let that sink in.

This isn’t permission to neglect responsibility—

training still matters.

Your words matter.

Your example matters.

Your consistency matters.

But you are not the author of their decisions.

Some seeds take time to surface.

Some roots grow deep before they rise.

Some journeys circle before they return.

So don’t confuse a detour with a destiny.

If you trained them in truth—

trust that truth still knows how to call them back.

This isn’t about control.

It’s about faithful planting.

And sometimes…

endurance isn’t just raising them—

It’s trusting Alahim with them.

... Read moreParenting is one of the most profound journeys of faith and responsibility. From my own experience, embracing the idea that Proverbs 22:6 offers wisdom rather than a guarantee has been both freeing and challenging. I used to carry a heavy burden of guilt when my children made choices that seemed contrary to the values I instilled. Over time, I realized that while parents plant seeds through consistent teaching and example, each child’s path is ultimately shaped by their own decisions and growth process. The key is not control but faithful planting. Like a gardener who waters and nurtures but cannot control the weather or growth timeline, parents must trust the process and embrace patience. Some seeds—the values and lessons taught—take time to surface, sometimes after years of seeming detours or struggles. It’s natural for children to wrestle with their own wills, and this wrestling does not mean the training was in vain. Incorporating faith deeply into parenting offers a powerful perspective. Believing that Alahim’s guidance continues beyond our efforts helps caregivers release unrealistic expectations. It also encourages endurance—not just in raising children but in trusting a higher power with their ultimate journey. This mindset allows parents to remain consistent and loving without feeling solely responsible for outcomes. Consistency in words and actions matters tremendously. Children observe not just what we say but how we live out our values. Modeling obedience and integrity plants powerful roots but does not override their freedom to choose. When parents understand this balance, it shifts the focus from blame to ongoing support and encouragement. To fellow parents feeling weighed down by silent guilt or pressure, I would say: your dedication and truth matter profoundly, even if results aren’t immediate or linear. Don’t confuse a detour with destiny. Trust the wisdom of Proverbs—not as a contract, but as a trusted guide. Hold onto endurance, keep planting faithfully, and lean into faith to navigate the complexities of parenting with grace and hope.
