Healing after trauma involves intentionally reclaiming your identity to become the woman y

#EmClimaUltraLeve

Healing after trauma involves intentionally reclaiming your identity to become the woman you want to be. This process, known as "post-traumatic growth," focuses not just on recovering but also on finding positive change and a renewed sense of self and purpose.

Acknowledge your trauma without letting it define you

Reframe your narrative. Your trauma is a chapter in your life, not the entire story. Instead of thinking, "I am broken," try reframing it: "I have been through something difficult, but I am healing and stronger for it".

Differentiate between past and present. Your brain may perceive threats everywhere as a trauma-based survival response. Practice grounding techniques like the "5-4-3-2-1" method to help you distinguish between a past threat and your present, safe reality.

Be kind to yourself. Self-compassion is a powerful tool for healing. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer a loved one going through a difficult time.

Rediscover your authentic self

Reconnect with your values and passions. Trauma can cause you to lose touch with the things that once brought you joy. Take small steps to rediscover old hobbies, explore new interests, or spend time with people who uplift you.

Create a "purpose timeline". Reflect on who you were and what you enjoyed before the trauma. Use this to create a "purpose timeline" showing pre-trauma joys, survival adaptations, and current steps toward authenticity.

Distinguish your authentic values. Identify your core values by considering what truly matters to you now, separate from any beliefs or roles you inherited during the trauma.

Rebuild your self-concept

Challenge negative beliefs. Trauma can leave you with feelings of shame and unworthiness. Write down these negative thoughts and then create alternative, more realistic thoughts based on your strengths and resilience.

Set boundaries. Setting boundaries is crucial for protecting your well-being and rebuilding self-worth. Start by setting small, clear boundaries in low-risk situations to regain a sense of control over your life.

Embrace new possibilities. View healing as an opportunity for growth and transformation. By accepting that trauma has changed you, you give yourself permission to explore new strengths and perspectives.

Nurture growth and self-love

Healing childhood trauma is possible 🧸
