A follower gave me a ticket to watch AS Roma last night.
…but not just any ticket.
Curva Sud at Stadio Olimpico
I’d watched this section from afar for years…
but last night I finally experienced it for myself.
You don’t come to Curva Sud to watch football.
You come for this 💛❤️
Attending a match in Curva Sud at Stadio Olimpico is truly unlike any other football experience I've had. From the moment I arrived an hour before kickoff, I was surrounded by thousands of fans dressed in Rome's iconic red and yellow. Everyone seemed to know each other—hugs, cheek kisses, and laughter created a welcoming atmosphere that felt more like a family reunion than a sporting event. Security was tight, with multiple checks of IDs and tickets ensuring safety without diminishing the excitement. One striking thing was that assigned seats here mean very little; nobody actually sits, and the energy is focused on standing, singing, and waving huge flags throughout the game. This section is known to be one of the wildest in Italian football, where the sense of unity among true Roma fans is palpable. I even adopted the local custom of riding a motorino to the stadium, which added to the overall adventure. Seeing the sea of supporters and feeling their passion up close made me understand why people come to Curva Sud not just to watch the match but to live it. The collective chants, the rhythmic energy, and the celebration of their team create a unique ambiance that goes well beyond the game itself. For anyone visiting Rome and loving football, I highly recommend experiencing at least one game from Curva Sud. Just be ready to stand, sing loudly, and immerse yourself fully in what is arguably the heart and soul of AS Roma’s fan culture. It’s an unforgettable way to connect with the city, its people, and their unyielding love for football.
