No Buy 2025- Shopping ONLY Secondhand

Did a quick Goodwill stop today when we dropped off some bags of clothes to donate.

There were lots of great finds, but I was good and only allowed myself to purchase a few things.

I think the old Boy Scout handbook is the coolest find from this trip- it is from the year both my dad and father-law were born!

... Read moreIn 2025, the movement towards sustainability and mindful consumption has gained momentum, with many choosing to rely on secondhand shopping as a way to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly practices. This shift not only allows individuals to discover unique items but also supports local charities and thrift stores, such as Goodwill, known for their affordable prices and variety of goods. Thrifting has become a popular activity, especially among those participating in challenges like No Buy 2025, which encourages people to limit their new purchases and focus on reusing and recycling. Among recent trends, vintage items are in high demand, from retro clothing to classic books and unique home decor. Thrift stores often have hidden gems waiting to be uncovered—like the Boy Scout Handbook from 1962, which tells stories of scouting adventures from decades ago. Combining fashion, nostalgia, and sustainability, thrift shopping allows individuals to cultivate a distinct style that reflects personality while promoting environmental consciousness. Moreover, thrifting enables you to save money while building a unique wardrobe filled with pieces that may not be found in standard retail stores. Variations in prices make it accessible for everyone to participate in this sustainable lifestyle and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. As you embark on your own thrifting journey this year, remember to share your findings on social media to inspire others and create a community centered around secondhand shopping. Join the conversation with hashtags #nobuy2025 and #thriftfinds to see how others are embracing sustainable shopping practices and making the most of their thrift store adventures.

I try to shop at thrift stores for most of all of my clothes. I’ve been doing it for years and it saves so much money. Now I can’t make myself pay full price for clothes.
