This sausage potato cabbage skillet is a perfect go-to meal when you're looking for something hearty, easy, and packed with flavor. Using smoked sausage adds a smoky, savory depth that pairs wonderfully with tender potatoes and cabbage, which both cook down nicely to a satisfying texture. Start by cooking your potatoes thoroughly, whether boiling, sautéing, or pan-frying, so they become tender but still hold their shape. Then, incorporating onion and garlic enhances the aromatic base of the dish, complementing the savory sausage. Butter adds richness and helps meld all the flavors together. Adding canned tomatoes not only introduces a slight acidity and juiciness but also helps create a light sauce that binds the ingredients, making every bite moist and flavorful. The seasoning mix of garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and garlic & herb seasoning brings an elevated flavor profile without overpowering the natural taste of the ingredients. For versatile serving options, you can enjoy this dish on its own as a comforting skillet meal or pair it with a side of crusty bread or a fresh green salad for a more rounded dinner. This recipe is convenient and adaptable — you can easily swap the smoked sausage for turkey sausage or a plant-based alternative, and add additional vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra nutrients and color. Overall, this dish fits perfectly into busy weeknight rotations where ease, flavor, and heartiness are needed. And because it uses common pantry staples like canned tomatoes and simple seasonings, it’s budget-friendly too. Give this recipe a try and enjoy a cozy, delicious meal in less than 30 minutes!
