We’ve been doing a 4-Part series called do you want to be made well? and in part 1, we talked about awareness without shame.

But awareness can quietly turn into venting…

and venting can keep us stuck.

There’s nothing wrong with processing pain.

There is something incomplete about staying there.

When Jesus asked the man in John 5,

“Do you want to be made well?”

He wasn’t asking for a story.

The man gave reasons.

Jesus gave instruction.

“Get up. Pick up your mat. And walk.”

Venting releases emotion.

Listening receives direction.

Healing begins when we move from explaining what happened to responding to what God is asking us to do now.

So the question isn’t:

What happened to you?

Our simple question for you is:

Are you listening for your next step of obedience?

📖 This is Part 2 of our 4-part livestream series: From Venting to Listening

If you’d like the full video, comment LIVESTREAM and we’ll send you the link.

And let God bless your day 🤍

... Read moreIn my own experience, I have found that venting can sometimes feel like making progress—it’s an outlet to release bottled-up emotions and frustrations. However, prolonged venting without moving forward can create a cycle of stagnation, where emotional pain remains unresolved. This resonates deeply with the message that venting may feel productive but doesn't produce healing. What truly transformed my perspective was understanding the power of listening to guidance beyond my immediate feelings. Like the man in John 5, who was asked, 'Do you want to be made well?' the focus shifts from merely recounting pain to taking practical steps toward healing. This means paying attention to the next steps life or faith invites us to take, rather than reliving past hurts repeatedly. Listening prepares us for what’s next—it opens the door to direction, growth, and transformation. I’ve noticed that when I move from explaining why something happened to asking, 'What can I do now?' I begin to experience real healing. This heartfelt obedience to what comes next isn’t always easy, but it is incredibly freeing. This approach also aligns with spiritual teachings that emphasize action over explanation. Healing begins not just with awareness, but with actionable steps of faith and trust. When we ‘get up, pick up our mat, and walk,’ we are choosing to engage with life actively rather than passively dwelling on pain. Ultimately, this journey from venting to listening is about reclaiming control and hope. It empowers us to break free from the chains of blame and explanations that keep us stuck. Instead, it invites us to trust in the process of healing and in the guidance that leads us to wellness. If you find yourself stuck in venting, try pausing and asking, 'Am I listening for the next step God or life is calling me to?' It may open up a path to renewed strength and peace.
