Reading "A Wish For Us" truly pulled at my heartstrings like few books have. The story of Cromwell Dean, a young man escaping the gloomy skies of England to pursue music in South Carolina, struck me deeply. As someone passionate about music, I connected strongly with how Tillie Cole weaves music into the emotional landscape of the characters. Cromwell's evolution through the influence of Bonnie Farraday, a lover of classical music with a tender soul, reminded me of how powerful relationships can heal and inspire creativity. One thing I appreciated was how the novel portrays the fusion of different musical styles — the electric beats Cromwell is drawn to and the classical sounds Bonnie cherishes — symbolizing the merging of two seemingly opposite worlds. It felt authentic and touching, especially the moments where Cromwell reflects: "It was you who brought the music back to my heart. You helped my music rediscover its soul." The book also explores themes of vulnerability and breaking down emotional walls in a way that felt very real. The characters' struggles and triumphs made me reflect on my own experiences with love and personal growth. If you enjoy contemporary romance that delves beyond just the love story to explore the arts and inner healing, this book is a must-read.
