Dream Dives Into Explore the Dream World Through Art
Are we living in the present, or are we floating among the past and the future yet to come?
"Dream," an exhibition that invites viewers to dive into the dream world through the art of Ayino (Verapong Sritrakulkitjakarn: Ayino).
For artists, the word Dream means not only a dream in slumber, but a state of existence, a dream is a reality, and the truth itself is a dream. The past is a dream. The future is a dream. As well as the desires, expectations, and images we create in our thoughts all the time. Humans rarely live with the "present" literally because we float among layers of dreams, dreams that want to be, dreams that believe to be true, and dreams that are ready to fall apart.
The "Dream" exhibition arises from a process in which artists collect what they encounter in their daily lives, objects, events, and situations that affect their feelings, before mixing them with fuzzy images in their thoughts; these elements are superimposed, interlined, and intertwined like imperfect jigsaw puzzles; the works in the exhibition are therefore not a linear narrative, if they are an assembly of feelings, memories, and thoughts that never stop.
The artist conveys the dream world through oil painting packed with stories, people, comic characters, creatures and lifeless, which is not lined up as a straightforward narrative but opens up space for the audience to interpret freely; the elements serve as a gateway to dreams, interpolating anesthesia and visuals does not necessarily have a fixed meaning, so the audience is not guided to understand the work, but is invited to live with it, and make up meaning from their own experiences.
Although each work seems to have an individual story, they are all connected by the same common ground: reflecting the state of the world from the perception of the artist, such as a world full of human pursuits, travels, and ambitions; some seeking power, fame, and money; some seeking both temporal and spiritual peace; while others dream beyond reach, to become a tragedy at the expense of defeat.
Let's explore the meaning of dreams in our own way at the "Dream" exhibition.
