everything i wish i knew about inflammation!!

first, the top 4️⃣ things to know:

→ inflammation is the root cause of almost everything that can go wrong in your body

→ stress causes inflammation

→ 98% of foods in the grocery store have ingredients that cause inflammation

→ you CAN heal and prevent inflammation!

LEADING CAUSES⤵️

👎 stress

👎 alcohol and nicotine

👎 sugar

👎 seed oils (canola, palm, sunflower, corn, soybean, grapeseed)

👎 “refined” or “enriched” ANYTHING (flour, sugar, etc)

PREVENTION ⤵️

🌱 stress relief

focus on what you can control, meditate, journal, pray, plan, surround yourself with positive community, go outside, reduce screen time

🥗 eat whole foods

focus on consuming the types of foods your body is naturally designed to process

🏋🏻 exercise regularly

working out releases chemicals called cytokine (aka “hope molecules” that are anti-inflammatory AND act as a natural antidepressant!)

🌙 get quality sleep

your immune system needs sufficient quality sleep to heal inflammation and protect your body! optimize your sleep habits

THE HARD TRUTH ⤵️

when i first started learning about the effects of inflammation, i didn’t really take it seriously. i knew stress and certain foods were bad for me, but i didn’t care enough to make serious lifestyle changes.

here’s the thing: inflammation is POISON

every inflammatory food you eat, alcohol you drink, or nicotine you smoke is a little bit more poison in your body. but because they make these things taste so good, you don’t really care.

the immediate effects of these foods/habits are positive (they taste/feel good!)

it’s not until we start to see long term effects years later (pain, chronic fatigue, depression and anxiety, frequent sickness, etc) that we realize just how bad they REALLY were

do yourself the kindness of cutting these things out! it’s SO hard in the short term, but you adjust to it pretty quickly and life will get exponentially better!!

💌 save this for later!

and follow for more daily posts :)

... Read moreInflammation is often overlooked, yet it plays a crucial role in many chronic health issues, from autoimmune diseases to heart problems. To better understand how to combat inflammation, it's essential to delve into lifestyle choices and their impact on your body. One of the most significant factors contributing to inflammation is diet. Highly processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats—like those found in seed oils—can exacerbate inflammatory responses. Instead, embracing a diet rich in whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, can support your body’s healing processes. This nutritional shift not only helps reduce inflammation but also bolsters your immune system, making it more resilient against potential health threats. In addition to dietary changes, stress management is paramount. Chronic stress releases cortisol, which can fuel inflammation over time. Incorporating mindfulness practices, such as yoga or meditation, can be highly beneficial in lowering stress levels. Regular physical activity also plays a critical role, as exercise stimulates the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, which promote overall health and mood enhancement. Quality sleep is another often underappreciated element of inflammation management. Ensuring you get enough restorative sleep allows your body to recover and repair itself effectively, minimizing inflammatory markers. Aim for a routine that encourages good sleep hygiene, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and creating a restful sleeping environment. Together, these strategies create a holistic approach to reducing inflammation and improving health outcomes.

ok so 1. i thought some seed oils were good? sunflower oil, etc? if not, then which one is good for frying? like when you need more than just a little bit on the surface. think chicken wings or french fries? avocado and olive oils are 2 costly & don’t come in large jugs. (only 1x year when i visit mom)
