I know it can seem hard to get all of this but remember, you can do ALL THINGS through Christ who gives you strength. Keep striving to be near to Him, He will never let you down. There are 2 other things that God used to help me as well, circuit riders (Monday nights at 6:30pm PST), and UPPERROOM (Sunday mornings at 10am CST) I watch the livestreams and God has used them to speak to me many times. 💕
If you have any prayer requests feel free to share them alone and I’ll be sure to pray for you 🤍
... Read moreIt's a feeling many of us know, that quiet drift away from the spiritual passion we once had. That sense of 'lukewarmness' can be isolating and discouraging, but I've learned it's a common struggle, and more importantly, it's something we absolutely can overcome. For a long time, I felt like I was just going through the motions, and it weighed heavily on my spirit. But through some intentional changes and leaning into God's grace, I started to feel that fire rekindle.
Here are a few things that truly made a difference in my journey, building on those valuable practices of Bible reading, fasting, prayer, and being mindful of my media intake, which I've found are cornerstones for spiritual growth:
1. Dive Deep into Consistent Bible Reading: This isn't just about checking a box; it's about nourishing your soul. I used to struggle with making time, but I found that starting with just 10-15 minutes each morning, even before my day really began, transformed my perspective. Don't feel pressured to read the whole Bible in a year initially. Start with a Gospel, or a book like Psalms or Proverbs. There are amazing devotionals out there that can guide you, or you can pick a specific topic you want to learn more about. The key is consistency and allowing God's word to speak directly to your heart. It's truly living and powerful!
2. Cultivate Intentional Prayer: Prayer is our direct line to God, and it's far more than just asking for things. I discovered the power of spending time in adoration, simply praising Him for who He is. Confession brings freedom, and offering thanksgiving shifts your perspective to gratitude. Sometimes, I just sit in silence, inviting Him to speak to me, and I've been amazed at the peace and clarity that follows. Try setting a specific time each day, just for prayer, even if it's only five minutes. You'll find it strengthens your bond with Him incredibly.
3. Explore the Discipline of Fasting: This might sound daunting, but fasting isn't about deprivation; it's about shifting your focus from earthly desires to spiritual ones. It could be a food fast, or perhaps a 'media fast' where you intentionally step away from social media or entertainment for a period. When I chose to fast from certain distractions, I found myself with more time and mental space to pray and read my Bible. It really helps sharpen your spiritual senses and reminds you of your deeper hunger for God. *Always consult with a medical professional before undertaking any food-related fast.*
4. Be Mindful About Your Media Consumption: It's easy to get caught up in the endless scroll or constant entertainment, but I noticed how much it was subtly pulling me away from spiritual things. I started being more intentional about what I allowed into my mind and spirit. Instead of passively consuming secular media, I sought out uplifting podcasts, worship music, or inspiring sermons. This isn't about completely isolating yourself, but about making conscious choices that align with nurturing your faith. Those online services, like the ones I mentioned (Circuit Riders and UPPERROOM), have been incredible sources of spiritual refreshment and community for me, helping to fill that void with positive, faith-filled content.
5. Embrace Spiritual Community and Mentorship: While personal time with God is crucial, we're not meant to walk this journey alone. Finding a community of believers, whether it's through a local church, a small group, or even online fellowships, provides vital encouragement, accountability, and shared wisdom. I've found so much strength in knowing I'm part of something bigger, and having fellow believers to share struggles and triumphs with has been invaluable. Sometimes, just hearing someone else's testimony of overcoming lukewarmness can ignite hope in your own heart.
Remember, getting out of lukewarmness is a process, not a sprint. There will be days you feel closer and days you feel a bit distant, but God's grace is always sufficient. Keep striving, keep seeking Him, and He will never let you down. You are loved, and your spiritual journey is incredibly important!
Welcome! So excited to see more from you in the future💛
