Hysterectomy at 31!

I am 2.5 weeks into my robotic assisted hysterectomy, bilateral salpingectomy, and diagnostic cystoscopy! I did keep my ovaries. 🙌🏻

I had stage one endometriosis and when I woke up in the recovery room, my surgeon came in to tell me she got it all. 🥹

I will be straight up and say the first like 1-3 days were the worst! Days 4-7 the pain started easing off a lot. I was off the heavy pain medication by day 4. Thank goodness for Tylenol and ibuprofen! 🤣

I still get tired pretty easily! For the first like week and a half I needed to sleep A LOT. My husband had the first like 10 days off to stay and help me or I probably wouldn’t have made it. I still require almost daily naps. 😅

I am on a strict no lifting over 10 pounds rule for six weeks. I also have a 7 month old baby and a 4 year old so not lifting them has been tough and hard on my heart. 😞

I had my two week check up and the dr said the incisions are healing very well and I’m healing nicely! I have to go back at week 6 to see if I’m healed enough to return to normal activities. I’m a gym rat and I miss lifting the things. 🤪

... Read moreUndergoing a robotic assisted hysterectomy at a young age like 31 can feel overwhelming, especially when balancing the demands of motherhood and recovery. From my personal experience, the key to managing this journey lies in patience and a strong support system. In the initial days post-surgery, pain and fatigue may be intense, but as I found, they gradually ease around the first week. Staying on top of pain relief with recommended medications such as Tylenol and ibuprofen made a big difference. Energy levels can fluctuate greatly during recovery, so listening to your body and allowing time for rest—sometimes in the form of naps—is essential. I discovered that accepting help from family was crucial, as restrictions like the no lifting over 10 pounds rule can be difficult, especially with young children. It’s important to focus on healing well to avoid setbacks. It’s also reassuring to have your surgeon’s encouragement after successful removal of endometriosis lesions, which can make the emotional transition smoother. Regular follow-ups help monitor incision healing and ensure that you’re on track. For those like me who are active and used to working out, not being able to return to the gym or lift weights right away is tough, but prioritizing a full recovery ultimately leads to better long-term results. Sharing your journey with others through support groups or online communities can provide motivation and practical advice as you heal.

FYI.. they didn’t tell me this when they did mine, it throws you instantaneously into perimenopause. Start researching now, super uncomfy. and you’re stuck in it until you hit menopause where your symptoms ramp up. Ooo fun. :OP
