🍚: Chuan Wei Mala Tang

💰: $3.25 per 100g (+ $1 for rice)

... Read moreWhenever I crave mala tang, I find Chuan Taizi Mala Tang a fantastic choice, especially if you enjoy a spicier, less creamy soup base. The option called "xiao la" offers a clean, clear broth packed with robust chili flavor, which I personally prefer to richer, milkier styles. It’s also great knowing you pay by weight—$3.25 per 100g plus a dollar for rice—which makes it easy to customize your meal to your appetite and budget. One thing I really love about this spot is the variety of meats and ingredients. Their fish dishes are particularly soft and tender, needing just a quick dip in the broth before they melt in your mouth. The freshness of the ingredients really stands out, which elevates the mala experience beyond just heat and numbness. Besides the soup itself, I have to mention the accompanying starch choice. Unlike many who opt for noodles, I’m a firm fan of adding rice. It soaks up the bold, spicy soup and balances the heat with a comforting texture. Rice also fills you up nicely, making the meal both satisfying and hearty. In Singapore’s City Hall area, where food options are plentiful, this mala tang outlet offers an affordable, flavorful, and interactive way to enjoy traditional Sichuan-style cuisine. For anyone exploring the diverse #sgfood scene, I highly recommend trying this—especially if you’re seeking authentic mala that’s not too heavy but packs a punch. If you’re planning a visit, consider ordering the "xiao la" spicy option and mixing in your favorite proteins and vegetables. Don’t shy away from the fish—it’s surprisingly tender and delicious. And of course, get the rice to complete the meal. This experience brings together the warmth of traditional mala with the convenience and customization modern diners love.

Baby Fangs - Indomee @ Tanjong Pagar
🍜 Great place to eat indomee at a reasonable price, with delicious smashed chicken and runny egg. They have spice levels ranging from 1-21. Surprisingly, Level 1 already has some spice, and for someone that eats 中辣 mala, level 3 was quite spicy! Would return if I’m craving indomee when working.
