I've been there.
So many of us have.
We cover for them. We make excuses for them. We lie for them. We neglect ourselves for them. Some of us even numb ourselves just to survive what we're going through.
If you're reading this and you can relate, hear me when I say this:
That isn't love.
Love isn't supposed to cost you your peace, your joy, your confidence, your health, or yourself.
Stop pretending you're happy just to make everyone else comfortable.
Your life is too precious. Your story is too valuable. And your future is too important.
Choose yourself.Choose healing.Choose peace.
The sooner you accept what it is, the sooner you can start building the life you deserve. ❤️🩹🫂🙏🏼💜
Many of us have experienced relationships where we convince ourselves that enduring pain or discomfort is a sign of love or commitment. I know firsthand how easy it is to cover for someone else’s faults or to ignore our own needs just to maintain peace. However, true love nurtures your well-being; it doesn’t drain it. In my experience, the hardest step is often admitting that what you’ve been enduring isn’t healthy or loving. It’s common to feel guilt or fear when considering a change, especially when you’ve invested so much emotionally. But the painful truth is that pretending to be happy only prolongs suffering and holds you back from the life you truly deserve. Healing begins the moment you recognize that love should never come at the cost of your confidence or health. Self-love means setting boundaries, choosing peace over chaos, and valuing your own story and future. You don’t have to stay for others’ comfort or out of fear of judgment. By choosing yourself first, you create space to rebuild your joy and rediscover your worth. Surrounding yourself with supportive people, seeking professional help if needed, and practicing self-care are crucial parts of this journey. Remember, it’s okay to prioritize your happiness. Every step toward healing is a step toward a brighter, healthier relationship with yourself and others.
