are all FAs just out to sell you?

i used to avoid FAs too, it was only when my friend joined the industry then i got some exposure to some form of financial planning. even when i had a close friend in the industry, i didn’t understand insurance well; because i never thought to ask more

there are instances of horror stories where people get sold plans they don’t need or don’t benefit them that much and it’s unfortunate — which is why it’s important to find advisors you can trust. but that also starts with being open to conversations!

... Read moreIf you’re new to financial planning or wary of advisors, it’s understandable to hesitate before opening up. Many of us hear stories about people being sold unnecessary or unsuitable plans. From my experience, the key difference lies in finding someone who genuinely puts your interests first rather than just selling products. When exploring options, it helps to start with advisors who offer clear explanations about why a particular plan or insurance fits your personal situation—not just what’s profitable for them. Trust often builds over time, and having a friend or someone you know vouch for an advisor makes it easier to take that first step. One important takeaway is that avoiding financial advisory conversations doesn’t protect you from the risks of being unprepared. Life can throw unexpected challenges, and having financial protection or a plan tailored for you can make a real difference. Opening up a dialogue, asking questions, and requesting transparency are ways to empower yourself. Another thing to remember is that when you do speak with an advisor, the focus should be on your unique needs—not on selling you the most expensive plan. A good advisor helps you evaluate where you are financially and what makes the most sense for your goals. They gently guide you, helping you avoid common pitfalls. Personally, having someone I trusted give me that gentle push to learn more helped me get started. It might be the same for you — sometimes all it takes is a conversation to break down the stigma and clear up misunderstandings. This way, financial advice can become a helpful resource rather than a source of stress. So next time you’re unsure, consider that not every advisor is out to sell you something unnecessary. With a little openness and research, you might find the right support for your financial journey.

Some things are better left in the past.
Being a counsellor is mostly great. The downside? People assume it comes with a lifetime subscription to sainthood as if you’re required to be endlessly neutral, endlessly compassionate, and somehow above having personal boundaries or opinions. Unfortunately, I’m still human. Last night, my

When you sell your home, CPF doesn't just want back what you used.
Most sellers are shocked when they find out how much goes back to CPF after the sale. It's called accrued interest — and it's been quietly building since the day you used your CPF to buy. The good news? You can reduce it. Top up your OA voluntarily while you're still in the home

HDB Sellers wanna sell High Buyers wanna Buy Low 😅
Every seller wants to sell high. Every buyer wants to buy low. But here’s the truth: YOUR PRICE ≠ MARKET PRICE.
