This is one of my FAVORITE apps. I’ve listened and read so many books from this app. It’s a library app. All you need to do is download, link your neighborhood library, your library card and you able to check out books from right where you stand.
It will only have the books your library has so it not like audible where you get a much bigger variety but it’s FREE! Which is better than having to pay a monthly subscription. I have an iPhone but I believe it’s available on android as well.

As someone who loves to read but hates subscription fees, discovering Libby truly changed my reading game. It’s not just about getting free books; it’s about the freedom and convenience it offers right from your phone.
First off, getting started is a breeze – truly "free installation"! You just download the app, and the first thing it'll ask you to do is "find a library." It's super intuitive. Once you've located your local public library (or any library you have a card for), you simply enter your "library card" details. Boom! You're instantly connected to a vast digital collection. The best part? It’s completely "free content borrowing." Seriously, no hidden fees, no monthly subscriptions, and the biggest stress-reliever for me: "no costs or late fees" ever! Books return themselves automatically, which is a lifesaver for busy schedules.
Now, let's talk about one of its standout features, which I know many of you are searching for: "libby offline reading" and "libby app download audiobooks offline." This is where Libby shines, especially for commuters, travelers, or just anyone who wants to save data. When you borrow an ebook or audiobook, Libby makes it incredibly easy to download it directly to your device for "offline access." For audiobooks, after you hit 'borrow' and then 'download,' it’ll start saving to your phone. For ebooks, it often defaults to downloading or offers the option right away. This means you can load up your phone with several reads or listens before a flight, a long drive, or even just a trip to the park without worrying about an internet connection. I always check the "estimated reading times" for books to plan my downloads, ensuring I have enough material for my trip!
Using Libby "on my phone" is incredibly convenient. The interface is clean and user-friendly. I love browsing the "newest" additions or checking out what's "popular" in my library's collection. You can easily filter by "ebooks, audiobooks, or magazines" to find exactly what you're in the mood for. Plus, there are so many "customizable settings" to make your reading experience perfect. For ebooks, you can adjust font size, background color (I'm a huge fan of dark mode, just like that image of the app's interface!), and even the book layout. For audiobooks, you can change playback speed, set sleep timers, and skip ahead or back with ease.
Sometimes, if my local library has a smaller selection, I've found that some people can add multiple library cards from different systems if they qualify (e.g., if you live in a different county but work in another, check their rules!). This can broaden your access to even more titles. Remember that handy maroon book icon with the light blue bookmark? That's your gateway to a world of free stories. Honestly, if you haven't tried Libby yet, especially for seamless "offline reading" and listening to "downloaded audiobooks" on your smartphone, you're missing out!
