Zone 2 isn't magical to everyone.

Zone 2 isn't magical to everyone.

Over the years, the running industry started talking about the word "Zone 2" so hard that it was sometimes made to look like the answer to everything, whether it wanted to run faster, tougher, leaner, or healthier, often ending up with the same advice: "Run a lot of Zone 2."

So many people start to feel that if one day runs beyond Zone 2, it seems like they're practicing wrong right away.

In fact, it's not that simple.

Zone 2 is very useful. There's nothing we need to argue about because it helps build aerobics, develops toughness, makes the body use energy more efficiently, and also helps recovery, especially for long-distance runners.

But the problem is that many people start to worship it and forget that their bodies are not broken.

Some don't lack an aerobic base at all, but lack a speed.

Some people can keep running, but enough to speed the pace back.

Some people endurance well, but the muscles can't bear the impact.

Some people are fit enough, but not enough rest until the body is broken.

If friends are runners who have always liked to run easy, never run hard, never interval, never touch the threshold, never practice or go up a steep hill, adding more Zone 2 may not change that much.

Because maybe what the body needs is not to slow down, but to encourage more.

Another thing that is often seen is that many people are too serious about the numbers, take the formula to calculate HR and try to press themselves into the exact zone until finally running unnaturally slow, the form is broken, the cadence is broken, and the running is not happy.

In fact, a good Zone 2 run should be a comfortable effort, feel controlled, breathe unstressed, and run naturally, not forced to semi-run.

The interesting thing is that Elite runners use a lot of Zone 2, but what people often forget to look at is that the day they practice hard, they practice "really hard."

Many runners today are back stuck in the middle space. The easy days are not real easy. The hard days are not hard enough. In the end, the body is not born. The adaptation is clear one way.

Perhaps the most important thing in rehearsals is not to try to figure out which Zone is best, but to understand what your body is missing right now.

Because each runner has a different problem.

Someone has to build a base.

Someone needs to speed up.

Someone needs to strengthen the muscles.

Someone has to solve the recovery.

Someone might just need to get enough sleep.

Zone 2 is just a tool, not a religion, and not everyone's only answer.

Finally, the best program may not be the most popular online program they share, but the one that really suits the body, life, and goals of each of their friends.
