KYO KOMACHI: a must go or a NO GO? 😣

If you’re considering visiting Kyo Komachi based on their reputation for himokawa udon, I’d suggest thinking twice. From my experience, the noodle dishes themselves lacked the depth many udon lovers might expect. The nabeyaki udon was notably plain and came without additional spices or condiments to enhance the flavor, which was a letdown compared to other udon places I’ve tried. One redeeming aspect was the side beef dish served with the nabeyaki set – it was surprisingly flavorful and the egg mixed in was delightful. However, since the udon was quite bland, pairing it with the beef seemed necessary just to make the meal bearable. The signature white curry udon did have an evident curry flavor, but the aftertaste was too strong and beefy for my liking, which might not appeal to everyone. It felt heavy and somewhat overwhelming, which could get tiring quickly if you’re planning on savoring it over the entire dish. For food enthusiasts looking for authentic and stronger-flavored udon, this might not satisfy your cravings. It’s also worth noting that the service was average, and the prices were moderate but didn’t quite match the quality of the food served. If you're curious about trying Kyo Komachi’s menu, you might want to explore other udon spots in Singapore or even save this experience for a casual bite rather than a must-visit destination. Personally, I’m looking forward to trying the real himokawa udon in Tokyo to compare the authentic taste.
