Check-in: A Viral Guiyang Beef Noodle Spot

As someone who grew up in Guiyang,

I rarely go out to eat beef noodles—because homemade versions are already that good.

But while putting together a food guide for friends visiting Guiyang,

I came across this spot:

“Qianshang Aunt · Traditional Guiyang Beef Noodles.”

📍 Located on Shaanxi Road

When I arrived, I was a bit confused—

because the shop actually has two storefronts:

* Left side: Traditional Guiyang Beef Noodles

* Right side: Zunyi Lamb Noodles

Inside, the space is quite large with plenty of seating.

You order first, then find a seat and wait for your food.

🍜 What We Tried

1️⃣ Braised Beef Noodles

The beef here comes in large chunks,

and the chili oil is clearly added on top after the soup is prepared.

That creates a fun visual:

👉 half clear broth, half red chili oil—almost like a yin-yang pattern.

Flavor-wise:

* rich, deep braised taste

* beef is very tender

* pairs perfectly with the soft, slightly tangy rice noodles

The pickled vegetables add a refreshing sour note,

and that slight sharpness really elevates the whole bowl.

2️⃣ Clear Broth Beef Noodles

In comparison, this version is much lighter.

* beef is sliced (not chunked, which I found interesting)

* same toppings: cilantro, scallions, and pickled greens

The overall taste is cleaner and more subtle,

but still enjoyable in its own way.

🌶️ Complementary Snacks

They offer pickled radish for self-service,

and also a “Guizhou specialty chili”:

* available to eat in-store

* or buy bottled to take home

This chili is essentially fried chili flakes:

* crispy texture

* intense heat

Not very beginner-friendly for those who can’t handle spice,

and probably something to enjoy in moderation from a health perspective.

📡 Why It Went Viral

While eating there,

I think I figured out why this place became so popular:

👉 They’re constantly livestreaming inside the restaurant.

* plus promotions like check-ins and free drinks

It’s not just a restaurant—

it’s almost like a live content studio.

For locals, beef noodles might be everyday comfort food.
