4/4 Edited to

... Read moreLiving away from parents can often bring a mix of emotions, especially as special occasions like birthdays approach. I’ve found that these moments make me reflect deeply on the warmth and support of home life, which I sometimes take for granted until I’m apart from it. Celebrating a birthday away from family might feel lonely, but it also creates an opportunity to appreciate the unique ways we connect with loved ones, whether through phone calls, video chats, or even small care packages. Preparing for a birthday while missing your parents often leads to a greater appreciation for family traditions. For me, it’s the little things — like the smell of home-cooked meals or the familiar sounds of laughter around the dinner table. Although I might not be there in person this July 23, I plan to honor those memories by creating new rituals that still hold the spirit of family, such as cooking my favorite childhood dish or sharing stories with friends who feel like family. Sharing these experiences with others who understand the bittersweet feeling of growing independence reminds me that homesickness is a common part of life transitions. It also motivates me to prioritize reaching out and keeping those bonds strong. Planning ahead for such occasions by setting virtual gatherings or even scheduling a visit home can turn moments of longing into celebrations filled with love and connection. Ultimately, missing living with parents during birthdays isn’t just about nostalgia — it’s about recognizing the vital role family plays in our identity and happiness. For anyone else in the same position, finding new ways to honor your roots while embracing your current life can bring comfort and joy during these milestone moments.

How intentional living changed the way I parent
hello ◡̈ I feel like it’s easy for parents to fall into the “waiting for the day to be over” rut and honestly, I’ve been there. It’s hard to admit that but for awhile it truly felt like I was just surviving. Which I hated. I didn’t want to be this mom. So what changed? 🤔 Honestly - my mind
