🐹 If I Had to Explain My Brain in One Image

This is exactly what my brain looks like before 8 a.m.

Coffee.

Laundry.

Make the bed.

Dishes.

Wash the car.

Pay the bills.

Oh my Alani.

Feed Kobe.

A grocery list.

A TikTok idea.

A random memory from 1994.

Something I forgot.

A squirrel.

And somehow I’m still wondering what we’re supposed to be doing after 40. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose brain has 47 tabs open at all times. ☕️🐿️💥

... Read moreStarting my day feels like trying to catch a dozen different trains all arriving at once. Before 8 a.m., my brain is a nonstop hamster wheel of reminders and random thoughts—from daily chores like laundry and dishes to more abstract distractions like remembering TikTok ideas or random memories from years ago. It’s amazing how coffee fuels this chaos, acting almost like a lifeline to keep the “tabs” open but somewhat orderly. What I find particularly entertaining is the way my brain jumps from practical tasks — like feeding pets or paying bills — to completely unrelated distractions like staring off into space wondering why I walked into a certain room or spotting a squirrel through the window. This mental multitasking creates a weird combination of productivity and amusing confusion. For many of us over 40, this overload of constant mental tabs reflects the complex balance of responsibilities we juggle: managing a household, keeping up with work, and carving out moments for self-care or creativity. The question “What are we supposed to be doing after 40?” resonates deeply, as life’s pace never seems to slow down but instead demands more adaptability. Personally, I’ve learned that embracing the messiness of this mental chaos and giving myself grace helps me manage anxiety and find humor in the whirlwind. If you relate, you might find it helpful to create small, calming rituals such as scheduled coffee breaks, setting mini to-do lists, or journaling your thoughts. These steps sometimes help clear “the 47 tabs” and bring focus. Plus, sharing this experience with others who live through the same caffeine-fueled mental circus reminds us we’re all in this together, riding the same unpredictable roller coaster called life after 40.
