How I skin cycle showing you the exact products I use with each cycle

3/15 Edited to

... Read moreSkin cycling has truly transformed my skincare approach, especially since I have sensitive skin prone to rosacea. One key benefit of skin cycling is that it allows your skin to get the right type of care each night without overwhelming it. Hydrating nights restore moisture and calmness, retinoid nights promote cell turnover and anti-aging benefits, while exfoliating nights gently remove dead skin with PHAs, which are mild enough for sensitive skin compared to stronger acids. For hydrating nights, I love starting with a micellar water like Bioderma to remove makeup thoroughly. Following up with a gentle cleanser like Vichy’s Cream Cleanser keeps skin calm. I always use a hydrating toner such as Thayers or the Bioma Milky Toner. Moisture is key on these nights, so I apply a hyaluronic acid serum (Iunik Betaine Hyaluronic Acid is great) and finish with a nourishing cream like the Avene Daily Facial Moisturizer. Retinoid nights require extra care to prevent irritation, so double cleansing with Bioderma and Vichy Normaderm helps clean the skin deeply yet gently. I sandwich my retinol (Medik8 Crystal Retinol 1) between a hydrating serum (I love the Iona Beta-Glucan Power Serum) and a rich moisturizer. To protect my sensitive skin, I finish with a barrier-repair cream like Avene Cicalfate, which significantly reduces redness and irritation. Exfoliating nights focus on gentle chemical exfoliation using PHAs, which suit sensitive skin and rosacea well. I alternate between Anua Heartleaf 7% PHA pad and Innisfree Green Tea Enzyme PHA toner. After exfoliating, I continue with hydrating toners and serums, followed by a thick protective cream to soothe the skin barrier. Consistency is essential in skin cycling. My weekly schedule typically goes: Hydrating night, Retinoid night, Hydrating night, Exfoliating night, and back to Hydrating. This rotation avoids overloading the skin, reducing chances of irritation while maximizing benefits from each type of product. Overall, skin cycling helped me balance my sensitive skin’s needs and achieve a healthier, glowing complexion without the harsh effects some skincare regimens cause. If you have sensitive skin as well, I highly recommend incorporating gentle hydrating and exfoliating products into your skin cycling routine and adding protective creams to soothe your skin after retinoid use.
