[1] When Jesus had finished these words, he left Galilee and entered the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan. [2] The people followed him, and there he healed their diseases. [3] The Pharisees came to tempt him, asking: "For whatever reason a man shall divorce his wife, is it lawful?" [4] He answered: "Have you not read that the Creator of man originally made man and woman [5] and said:" For this reason men will leave their parents to their wives, and they will be one flesh? "[6] Thus they will not be two, but one flesh; therefore what God has bound together, let no man parting." [7] They asked him, "Why then did Moses command a divorce book for his wife and divorce?" [8] He said to them, "Moses allowed you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your heart; but it was not at the beginning. [9] I say unto you, Whoever divorces his wife and takes another wife commits fornication, except that she is adulterous with another man." [10] The disciples said to him, "It is better not to marry." [11] He said, "No man can receive this teaching except the one whom God has given him. [12] For there are eunuchs from birth, and there are eunuchs from birth, and there are eunuchs. For it is for the earth's sake. Whoever takes it, take it.
