Your nervous system
Your nervous system goes into fight our flight when you rush. When you push yourself to always produce and act like everything is urgent. Move slower through your tasks. Slow down your breathing. You’ll get more done when your body isn’t in a state of panic. 🦅
From my own experience, understanding the role of the nervous system in stress response has been a game changer in managing anxiety and improving productivity. When we push ourselves to constantly rush and treat every task as urgent, our body shifts into the fight-or-flight mode—an automatic response designed to protect us but not sustainable for daily life. I found that consciously slowing down my breathing and pacing my actions helped me break out of this panic state. For example, during work sessions, I started taking short, mindful breaks to refocus and lower my heart rate. This simple practice made a noticeable difference; I was calmer and more efficient, finishing more tasks with less exhaustion. Incorporating mindfulness techniques also supports nervous system healing and trauma recovery. By paying attention to the present moment and tuning into bodily sensations, we can gently move the nervous system away from chronic hyperarousal. This approach has helped me personally with anxiety and depression symptoms linked to past trauma. If you feel overwhelmed and notice your body in constant stress, try moving slower through your day, slowing your breath, and prioritizing tasks with compassion for yourself. Remember, productivity doesn't require panic. Taking care of your nervous system is an essential step toward healing and maintaining mental wellness.
