Before graduating college
When I first started competing in college, I wanted to get into NCAA without even thinking how elite the competition was. It was also gonna help me get recognized and be a stepping stone for me to get pro. However, I didn’t start out good when I joined swim my freshman year and I knew I had long ways to go compared to my other teammates who had way better times than I did. I was so tunneled vision and desperate to make it that I didn’t realize it was hurting me mentally and physically where I was literally breaking my back for my coach even though she never cared for me as an individual and I never made any connections with my teammates (a lot of them were just mean in general). Fast forward when it came to cross country, my intention was just to have fun and to practice and compete with no pressure. I guess things do workout when you don’t chase things.
As of now, I’m a retired college athlete taking a break from competing and just trying new things that spark my passion. I still haven’t given up on my dreams on becoming a pro athlete. Trying a different sport in college and surprisingly excelling allowed me to think that there’s so many possibilities. I don’t know if I’m going to be a pro swimmer, runner, dancer, triathlete or do everything! Whatever it is I’m passionate and focused on, I want to make sure I’m genuine with intentions going into it, enjoying the process, and to cherish the connections I’ve made along the way while achieving my dreams.
