my favorite skincare ingredient for acne

I am the biggest fan of azelaic acid!! I’ve only tried it from Anua because I think their’s is very gentle, but other brands like SKIN1004, The Ordinary, Medicube, etc., also have an azelaic acid of their own. What does it do? So many things! It calms redness & irritation, fades dark spots, kills bacteria, and unclogs pores.

From my personal experience, incorporating azelaic acid into my skincare routine has been a game-changer, especially for acne-prone skin. What I really appreciate about azelaic acid is its multi-functional nature—it does more than just treat acne. It gently calms redness and irritation, which is crucial because acne treatments can often leave skin feeling sensitive or dry. The version from Anua, combined with hyaluronic acid, offers extra hydration, so my skin never feels stripped or tight. Another benefit I've noticed is how well azelaic acid works on hyperpigmentation. Dark spots from past breakouts gradually fade, helping to even out my skin tone without the harsh peeling effects of other acids. Plus, it has antibacterial properties that target acne-causing bacteria, preventing new pimples from forming, and it helps keep pores clear by reducing build-up. I’ve tried products from other brands like SKIN1004 and The Ordinary, and while they also work well, the gentleness of Anua’s formula stands out for sensitive skin types. If you’re considering adding azelaic acid to your regimen, start with a lower concentration and build up to avoid irritation. Overall, azelaic acid offers a balance of effectiveness and mildness that makes it suitable for daily use, even on sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. It’s become my favorite acne-fighting ingredient because it not only treats breakouts but also improves skin texture and tone over time, which many acne treatments don’t address comprehensively.
