Let’s talk about the hard parts of college.

2024/11/23 Edited to

... Read moreCollege can be one of the most challenging experiences in a young adult's life. Between managing coursework, balancing social life, and adjusting to independence, the weight of expectations can feel overwhelming. Freshman year can bring unexpected anxiety, such as living in dorms with limited stability, and the emotional rollercoaster of goodbyes when family leaves can trigger profound feelings of sadness, as reflected in personal journeys. Many students find themselves adapting to new environments, forming new friendships, and learning that the strong bonds they believed would last may change frequently. Classes become increasingly difficult, requiring a level of effort that students may have never encountered before. It’s important to recognize that seeking support from friends and family is crucial during tough times. They can provide a strong support system that makes a significant difference in coping with stress. Even though it may seem like everyone around you is thriving, remember that many are also struggling and feeling isolated. Acknowledging these feelings is the first step towards overcoming them. Sharing experiences with peers, joining support groups, or even seeking counseling can help combat feelings of loneliness and stress. You are not alone in this, and many before you have navigated these hurdles. Embrace the journey, seek out friendships, and remember that you’re building resilience that will serve you well beyond college. As you face hardships, remind yourself of your strength and the beautiful moments that lie ahead.

I understand the point of this post but if you are looking forward to college don’t let this scare you. I have been in community college for 2 years and I’m about to move to university. I know Univeristy will be different but personally, high school was 100x worse than community college! I hated it. I struggled socially. I was in the worst mental state I’d ever been in. When I started community college I realized that people are nicer, they won’t judge you as much. There are often a lot of support systems in place on college campuses and I utilized those. It truly is different for everyone
