Peanut Butter Lactation Bites

One-bowl and no-bake, these Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Lactation Bites are the perfect snack for nursing moms! Packed with oats, brewer’s yeast, and ground flax meal, this healthy lactation recipe is also a one-handed snack you can quickly whip up during nap time!

WHY WE LOVE THESE NO-BAKE LACTATION BITES

Dairy-Free + Vegan. These easy to make, no bake bites are a simple vegan snack that are great for breastfeeding moms who are reducing their dairy intake.

High in fiber. Each energy ball provides almost 2 grams of fiber helping you keep things moving after delivery.

Filling and healthy. Made with whole grains, these bites are not only healthy but filling.

One-handed snack. Perfect for eating while pumping, feeding, or holding your little one, these energy bites can easily be enjoyed with one hand.

WHAT MAKES THESE NO-BAKE ENERGY BITES HELPFUL FOR LACTATION?

There are 3 ingredients known to help aid in lactation included in this recipe.

Ground flax meal- Made from ground flaxseeds, this contains phytoestrogens (AKA dietary estrogens) which are structurally similar to estrogen produced by the body and have the potential to have effects similar to estrogen.

Brewer’s yeast– Packed with iron, protein, and vitamin B this superfood is a galactagogue – Greek for a substance that promotes lactation.

Oatmeal- Another ingredient high in iron helping to promote the production of breast milk.

Ingredients

1 cup Old-Fashioned Oats

¼ cup Peanut Butter

¼ cup Maple Syrup

2 tablespoons Ground Flaxseed

2 tablespoons Water

1 tablespoon Brewers Yeast

¼ cup Chocolate Chips

Instructions

In a small bowl, stir together water and ground flaxseed. Allow to rest 5 minutes for the flaxseed to soak up the water.

In a medium sized bowl, mix together oats, peanut butter, maple syrup, flaxseed mixture, brewers yeast, and chocolate chips.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

After an hour, remove from the fridge and roll into 1 inch balls. I used my 1 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop then roll the energy bites.

Once rolled, store in a refrigerator safe container for up to a week.

... Read moreAs a busy nursing mom, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to find time for nutritious snacks, let alone meals! That's why these peanut butter lactation bites have become an absolute staple in my fridge. When I first started looking for ways to give my milk supply a little boost, I stumbled upon the magic of galactagogues, and these bites pack a powerful punch with three amazing ones: oats, brewer's yeast, and ground flaxseed. I remember seeing all the ingredients laid out – the creamy peanut butter, wholesome oats, sticky maple syrup, and those tempting chocolate chips – and thinking, “This can't be this easy!” But it truly is. The no-bake aspect is a game-changer. No preheating ovens or waiting around; just mix everything in a single mixing bowl, chill, and roll. It's the perfect little project to do during naptime, and the payoff is a week's worth of healthy, lactation-boosting snacks. What I really love about these oat-based bites is how they make me *feel*. They're so much more satisfying than a quick cookie. The fiber from the oats and flax keeps me full, which is essential when you're burning so many extra calories nursing. And knowing that each bite is actively working to support my milk production gives me such peace of mind. I've found that eating one or two of these a day, especially between meals or before a pumping session, really helps keep my supply consistent. For those of you who might be dairy-intolerant or prefer a vegan lifestyle, these bites are a dream come true. It’s comforting to know I'm giving my body (and my baby!) something wholesome and free from common allergens. Now, a few tips from my own experience: Making Them Your Own: While the classic peanut butter and chocolate chip combination is irresistible, don't be afraid to experiment! I sometimes swap out the peanut butter for almond butter or cashew butter for a different flavor profile. You could also try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dash of vanilla extract for extra warmth. For an extra protein kick, I've occasionally mixed in a scoop of unflavored protein powder or collagen peptides. Storage & Shelf Life: These bites are fantastic for meal prepping. After rolling them, I store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They typically last for a good week, but honestly, in my house, they rarely make it that long! If you want to make a larger batch, they also freeze beautifully. Just pop them into a freezer-safe bag or container, and they'll be good for up to a month or two. Just let them thaw for a few minutes before enjoying. Beyond the Bites: While these bites are incredible, remember they're just one piece of the puzzle. Staying well-hydrated is equally crucial for milk production, so always keep a water bottle handy! And don't forget to listen to your body and rest when you can. These bites are here to make your journey a little bit easier and a lot more delicious. Enjoy those precious moments with your little one, fueled by these yummy, homemade lactation boosters!
