After 80 days of introducing new foods, making vegetable tater tots is a fun and nutritious way to keep your little one interested in eating. I’ve found that using a combination of green veggies like broccoli and zucchini adds flavor and essential nutrients without overwhelming the palate. When I first started making these tots, I steamed the vegetables until soft, then mashed them and mixed in a little mashed potato and mild seasoning to hold the tots together without any added salt. Baking them instead of frying made them healthier and easier to manage for my 10-month-old. One tip that really helped was making the tots small enough for tiny hands to pick up, encouraging baby-led weaning and self-feeding skills. It’s delightful to see babies explore textures and tastes, helping to develop their motor skills as well. If you’re a first-time mom or dad in the starting solids phase, variety is key. Don’t hesitate to try different veggies and combinations to see what your baby prefers. Carrots, sweet potatoes, or peas can all make delicious, colorful tots. Finally, sharing your favorite baby food recipes and ideas with other parents can be incredibly rewarding. It not only brings fresh inspiration but also a sense of community.
