C101: ep.4 - How I Pitch to Brands

Everyone keeps asking how I ended up in Los Angeles for a brand deal… The answer isn’t luck. It wasn’t a viral video. And it definitely wasn’t because I had millions of followers.

It started with one pitch.

Most creators spend hours trying to find the right brand contact, guessing email addresses, and sending the same copy-and-paste pitch over and over.

The biggest shift for me was treating pitching like a system instead of a guessing game. Now I filter for brands that actually fit my niche, refine my emails before I send them, and automate my outreach so I spend more time filming than searching. One of those pitches turned into a collaboration... and that collaboration brought me all the way to Los Angeles.

If you’re serious about landing brand deals, remember this: opportunities usually come from the emails you send, not the followers you have.

This tailored approach shows brands that I've done my homework and am genuinely interested in a partnership that benefits both sides. Another key factor is consistency. I set aside specific times each week just for pitching and follow-ups, turning it into a routine rather than a sporadic task. This steady effort helps build momentum and increases the chances of landing collaborations. Automation tools can be a game-changer. Using email templates with customizable fields allows me to maintain personalization while saving precious time. Tools like CRM systems or outreach platforms help manage contacts and track responses efficiently. Moreover, I focus on building relationships beyond just the pitch. Engaging with brands on social media and attending industry events can open additional doors. Often, brands prefer working with creators they recognize and trust. Lastly, don't underestimate the value of your unique voice and content style. Even if you’re a smaller creator, your authenticity and niche focus can make you attractive to brands looking for genuine connections with their audience. Remember, it’s not about follower count alone but the quality of engagement and alignment with the brand’s values. Incorporating these strategies, along with treating pitching like a deliberate system—as highlighted in the post—can dramatically improve your chances of landing brand deals and even exciting opportunities like brand trips to places such as Los Angeles.
