Charleston’s Must-See Spots 🌞
Places that made me fall in love with Charleston. Take caution, you won’t want to leave.
RENT BIKES 🚲: Start your day in Charleston by renting bikes and cruising through the streets to get a true feel of the city.
CHURCH & UNION ⛪️: Ever had dinner inside a church??? The restaurant is set inside a restored church, so you get a dining experience like no where else and the food is to die for.
KING STREET 🛍️: King street is the main road in Charleston with lots of shops and restaurants. It’s the perfect spot to just stroll and soak in the Charleston atmosphere.
ROOFTOP BAR 🍸: The Rooftop Bar at The Vendue is a popular choice we went to. It had a laid-back spot with great cocktails and amazing views. Making it an ideal place to stop in after dinner.
DOG FRIENDLY BEACH 🐾: Folly Beach is one of the most popular spots for pups, with designated off-leash areas where dogs can roam freely. You can walk along the shoreline and watch your dog have fun in the ocean!
FAVORITE RESTAURANT 🦞: Ellis Creek Fish Camp on James Island was one of my favorite restaurants we went to. It’s located right on a marsh and it’s all outdoor seating. I could’ve spent hours here just admiring the view.
GHOST TOUR 👻: The USS Yorktown Ghost Tour was one of my boy friend’s favorite activities. It was full of history and the guide led us around sharing tales of the ship’s haunted history, along with stories from paranormal investigations conducted on the ship. 😳
ART MUSEUM 🖼️: On a lighter note, The Gibbes Museum of Art was one of my favorite activities! The museum has 3 floors of collections by artists who have been influenced by Charleston’s history and culture. Such a cool experience!
I hope these spots make you fall in love with Charleston just like they did for me.💙🦋🐳

Charleston, South Carolina, isn't just a place; it's an experience that truly steals your heart. After my recent trip, I felt compelled to dive even deeper into what makes this city so enchanting and share some extra tips and insights beyond my initial highlights. If you're planning a visit, these expanded details and practical advice will help you make the most of your adventure. First off, let’s talk about getting around. While renting bikes is an incredible way to immerse yourself in the city's charm, especially along the picturesque Battery or through the historic district, Charleston is also incredibly walkable. I found that many of the key attractions, like King Street's vibrant shopping scene and the beautiful architecture, are best explored on foot. King Street isn't just for shopping; it's a social hub where you can discover unique boutiques, art galleries, and charming cafes. I recommend dedicating a good afternoon to simply strolling, popping into shops, and maybe enjoying a sweet tea on a bench – it's the perfect way to soak in the local atmosphere. Now, for the food! Dining at Church & Union was an experience unlike any other, not just for the stunning ambiance inside a restored church, but for the elevated Southern cuisine. It’s definitely a spot I’d recommend for a special evening out; think refined dishes and an unforgettable setting. Reservations are a must, especially on weekends! Then there’s Ellis Creek Fish Camp on James Island, which became an instant favorite. The all-outdoor seating right on the marsh creates such a relaxing vibe. Looking at their menu, I was so excited to try their fresh seafood. I remember eyeing their 'Southern Shrimp & Grits' and the 'Calamari', which looked absolutely delicious. Their 'Boals family recipe' crab dip also caught my attention – it’s clear they pride themselves on fresh, local flavors. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours, simply enjoying the views and the incredible food. For those looking to enjoy Charleston's vibrant social scene, The Rooftop Bar at The Vendue offers fantastic views, especially during sunset. It’s a great spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap. Beyond The Vendue, Charleston boasts several other amazing rooftop bars, each with its own unique perspective of the city's skyline, so don't hesitate to explore a few! And if you're like me and love exploring the outdoors, Folly Beach offers more than just a dog-friendly paradise. It's a fantastic spot for surfing, beachcombing, or simply relaxing by the ocean. The pier at Folly Beach is also perfect for a leisurely stroll and offers great photo opportunities. Finally, for a dose of history and culture, the USS Yorktown Ghost Tour is a thrilling experience, especially for history buffs and those who enjoy a good spooky tale. The guides are fantastic at bringing the ship's past to life. On a lighter note, The Gibbes Museum of Art is a serene escape, showcasing art inspired by Charleston's rich history and culture. It’s a wonderful way to understand the artistic legacy of the region. My ultimate tip for visiting Charleston is to allow yourself to wander. Some of the most beautiful discoveries are made when you stray from the main path. Whether it’s finding a quiet courtyard, a charming alleyway, or a local artisan shop, Charleston's magic is in its details. You truly won’t want to leave!
