As an independent artist, I know how challenging it can be to share work that doesn’t feel flawless. I relate deeply to the experience of being told to 'keep it' even when every note feels off to your ears. For years, I held back my voice, afraid of judgment and imperfection. But sometimes, perfectionism can stop us from telling our true stories. What helped me most was remembering the advice given by a loved one—in this case, a mother who encouraged me to "stop hiding & let it ALL out." That message gave me the courage to embrace my original vision for the music, even if others didn’t immediately recognize its worth. It also reminded me that authenticity resonates more than flawless performances. Creating and sharing "haute ish constantly" means pushing forward, creating boldly, and accepting that some performances may come with rough edges. That’s the nature of being a real artist who connects through emotion rather than technical perfection. Flat notes, producers’ doubt, and cringe-worthy moments are all part of the growth process. For anyone struggling with self-doubt or waiting for the perfect moment, I encourage you to saddle up and turn up the volume on your creativity. Your unique voice and story deserve to be heard, even if the notes aren’t perfect. After all, the energy and passion behind your music often leave a deeper impression than a flawless take. Embracing imperfection has allowed me to create original music that feels true and meaningful, honoring both my heritage as a Haitian American artist and my personal journey.
