Homemade hotdog buns recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 tsp sugar

3 tsp active dry yeast

1/2 cup milk powder

1/2 cup whole milk

1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:

Prepare the Yeast Mixture:

Warm the whole milk to about 110°F (45°C). Stir in the sugar and sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, milk powder, and salt.

Combine Ingredients:

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough starts to form.

Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic. Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.

First Rise:

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Buns:

Punch down the dough and divide it into 6-8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a hot dog bun and place them on a lightly greased baking sheet, spaced about 1-2 inches apart.

Second Rise:

Cover the shaped buns with a cloth and let them rise for about 30 minutes.

Bake the Buns:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
