New Year, Same God, still Human… 😉
God is doing something new, but I’m still me… 😂🙏🏾
It's a new year, and it feels like everyone is talking about transformations, resolutions, and becoming a 'new' person. While I love the idea of growth and embracing new seasons (God is definitely doing something new in my life!), there's also a deep comfort in knowing that some things, especially my core self, remain. My original post touched on this feeling – that even as circumstances change, I'm still me! It's not about ditching who you are, but rather *resetting my spirit, not my personality*, to align with what truly matters. In a world constantly pushing us to conform or compare, it can be tough to hold onto our authentic selves. We see so many versions of 'success' or 'happiness' online, and sometimes it makes us question our own path or unique makeup. But I've found that true peace comes from understanding and embracing the person God created us to be, with all our quirks and strengths. It's about recognizing that our 'personality' is a gift, and our 'spirit' needs nurturing to remain true. So, how do we navigate this? For me, the answer lies in God's word. The Bible is full of powerful reminders about our identity and purpose, guiding us to stay true to ourselves amidst life's changes. Here are a few verses that truly resonate with me when I need to feel grounded: Psalm 139:14 (NIV): 'I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.' This verse is such a powerful affirmation! It reminds me that my unique 'personality' isn't a mistake; it's a divine design. When I feel pressure to be someone else, I come back to this – knowing that I was crafted with intention and wonder. It helps in resetting my spirit to appreciate my individuality instead of wishing for someone else's. Philippians 4:13 (NIV): 'I can do all this through him who gives me strength.' This isn't just about achieving big goals; it’s also about having the strength to be myself. It gives me the courage to stand firm in my beliefs and values, even when it’s unpopular. It’s a reminder that my inner strength, the strength to maintain my core 'spirit,' comes from a place far greater than myself. Romans 12:2 (NIV): 'Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.' This one is huge for staying true to yourself! It challenges me to think critically about external influences and to consciously choose to live according to God’s plan, not society's expectations. It's about cultivating a 'spirit' that is renewed by truth, allowing my authentic 'personality' to shine without being diluted by worldly pressures. Hebrews 13:8 (NIV): 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.' In a world that feels constantly in flux, this verse offers immense stability. Knowing that God is unchanging provides an anchor for my soul. It allows me to trust His guidance as I strive to stay true to the person He's called me to be, rather than getting swept up in every new trend or idea. This foundational truth helps in resetting my spirit when I feel lost or unsure of my path, reminding me of the constant source of truth and self-acceptance. So, as I navigate this year, my focus isn't on becoming a completely different person, but on deepening my connection with God and allowing Him to refine the 'me' He created. It’s about *resetting my spirit, not my personality*, constantly aligning my heart with His truth. I encourage you to explore these verses and others that speak to your heart. Embrace your unique journey and remember that staying true to yourself isn't selfish; it's honoring the wonderful creation you are.
