Why does it feel like we have to choose?
I had a conversation today that stayed with me…
Why does it feel like we have to choose between our career and our kids?
I’m not saying fathers don’t feel it too…
but as a mom, it hits different sometimes.
Did God ask us to choose… or did the world? 🤍

As a working mother myself, I've often felt pulled in two directions: wanting to excel in my profession while being fully present for my children. Society frequently paints a picture where success means sacrificing family or vice versa, but I believe this is a limiting narrative. In many faith communities, the call is to nurture both our talents and our families without guilt. Realizing it isn't about choosing one over the other but finding harmony helped me understand that career and motherhood can complement each other. For example, skills like time management and empathy learned at work enhance my parenting, and the patience and love I cultivate with my children improve my work relationships. It’s important to build a support network—whether through faith groups, friends, or family—that encourages this balance. I’ve also found that setting clear boundaries and prioritizing self-care helps me avoid burnout. Embracing flexibility at work and communicating openly with employers about your needs can create a healthier, more sustainable dynamic. Ultimately, questioning whether this 'choice' was ever meant to be ours reassures me that God’s purpose encompasses our whole lives. Instead of feeling trapped by external pressures, I focus on what aligns with my values and well-being. Sharing experiences and encouragement among moms creates a community where we can redefine success on our own terms.

I was just telling a friend of mine this. It feels overwhelming‼️
