Anyone else remember what Oceans used to look like?

4/30 Edited to

... Read moreRemembering how oceans used to look vividly often brings a mix of emotions — wonder at their vastness and concern for the changes over time. From my own experience, it’s clear that both natural environments and our shopping habits have shifted dramatically. When I visit grocery stores now, I notice small yet significant details like the absence of corn or the overwhelming amount of plastic packaging on fresh produce. It’s surprising and a bit frustrating how something as simple as buying ingredients can feel complicated due to pricing hikes or reduced availability. For example, fresh mint that smells amazing may come with extra plastic wrapping, and staple items sometimes vanish from shelves unexpectedly. These experiences underscore broader environmental and economic issues: the oceans’ health reflects our planet’s state just as the increasing cost and artificiality in food shopping mirror our changing society. Personally, I try to make more mindful choices, such as opting for products with less packaging and supporting local markets that emphasize freshness and sustainability. Also intriguing is how certain ingredients, like garlic, carry stories beyond the kitchen — knowing about the harsh labor behind sourcing some foods adds a layer of ethical consideration to my cooking. Preparing meals becomes more than just following recipes; it’s about connecting with the origins of what we eat and appreciating the labor and environment behind it. Overall, these reflections encourage me to be more conscious of how everyday actions contribute to larger issues. Whether it’s remembering the oceans’ past beauty or noticing grocery store realities, we can find motivation to advocate for healthier environments and more responsible consumption.

I swear this was one of my all time favorite Disney Channel movies as a kid. Susie Q was about the ghost of a girl from 1955 helping a teen in her old house, and it was equal parts funny, sad, and spooky. I used to watch it every Halloween season…but I can’t find it anywhere now! It’s like it disap
